A community once overshadowed by Vodou and dominated by fear and hatred, is now a community working together as a result of the Gospel and pastoral training. With evangelism, discipleship, and training as the main focus of the ministry, UCI has been able to reach many in the 9 surrounding villages. Haitians once lost in Vodou are now being offered hope through the love of Christ.

UCI has seen Jesus grow His church by:

leading 14 witch doctors to receive Christ
leading many to be baptized after abandoning vodou and embracing Christianity
sending out 3 national missionaries employed by UCI
establishing 250 members of the church
facilitating youth group and children’s activities
building 7 churches

Nutrition

UCI has been meeting one of the greatest needs in Caiman by establishing nutrition centers that provide 3-4 meals a week for those that are malnourshed.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

In order to meet this need in an efficient way, UCI created feeding centers where children and families are able to come and receive a meal during the week. Children who previously relied on eating the ashes from the fire to fill their stomachs are being provided a nutritional meal 3 to 4 times a week. These centers have also provided opportunities to teach the parents to plant their own gardens and receive female goats in order to have an opportunity to make a financial investment.

Merely handing out food has provided opportunities to share the gospel and to talk about how God’s word is much greater than the basic necessities that we think that we need here on earth.

By sponsoring a nutrition center you can provide food to children that would otherwise go hungry.

Health

UCI has been meeting the critical need for basic health care by establishing a clinic for the Caiman area that treats patients and trains students.

Health

For those that come to the health clinic in Caiman, there is a benevolence fund for the ones that are not able to pay anything.

The clinic also gives a lot of university students the opportunity to obtain training and experience to become better doctors, which in turn gives medical care for the whole community.

Building

40% of Caiman residents have inadequate housing. UCI has already helped 24 families build new homes and replaced 156 mud floors with concrete.

Building

Haiti is one of poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Eighty percent of residents live in poverty, according to the CIA World Factbook.

With your donation, you can help a family build a home, or move a family from dirt floors to concrete. By building a home or pouring a floor, you help create a more sanitary living situation helping to prevent disease and poor health. All recipients of a building project are required to provide labor, sand, and water for their projects allowing them to participate in the blessing.

Short-Term Missions

UCI invites groups and churches from around the world to take part in what God is doing in Haiti through short-term mission trips.

Short-Term Missions

Every short-term mission trip aims to accomplish UCI's three-fold mission experience in conjunction with the goals, talents, and abilities of the visiting team. It is important to communicate with the Field Facilitators, either pre-field or early on-field, to determine what will be accomplished. Each team should be prepared to play a part in the ministry. It is not just a “trip” or a “vacation”. It is mission.

UCI Haiti's three-fold mission for short-term trips consists of:

Evangelism Ministry – verbally communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ, using a variety of methods
Construction Ministry – contributing to the hands-on building, construction, and cleaning projects as needed
Mercy (Service, Creative) Ministry
- demonstrating God’s love to those in need or hurting in orphanages, hospitals, prisons, and infirmaries
- providing helpful service to full-time missionaries, medical personnel, local pastors, educators, and officials
- allowing God to use the talents and imaginations of team members to share the Gospel in unique and creative ways (puppets, mimes, music, drama, sports, etc.)

Service Projects

Through service projects, UCI seeks to provide means by which Haitians can become more self-sufficient and productive members of the community.

Service Projects

One of the foundational goals of UCI is teaching people to provide for themselves rather than just providing for them. For example, providing a well or an irrigation pump helps equip people by teaching them to garden and strategically utilize water.

Help a Haitian to become more self-sufficient through the following projects:

Motorized irrigation pump: $1,000
Two thirds of the cost of the pump will be paid back by the farmer over the next 2 years and used to by another pump for a different association of farmers.
Drill a well: $5000 (depending on hitting water the first time or not)
Buy a motorcycle for a pastor: $1,000
Buy a goat for a family: $40 each
